The famous Royal railway station in foreground.
The Royal Station, Ballater, Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Opened in 1866 and closed in 1966.
Station used by the British Royal Family on a regular basis from mid 1800′s to 1966 (en route to Balmoral Castle) when it was closed due to Government cutbacks. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her close family used the station on many, many occasions.
The station now houses a superb visitor centre including an excellent replica of Queen Victoria’s personal Royal railway carriage and restaurant facilities.
Craigendarroch Hill (known locally as ‘The Christmas Pudding’) in the background.
