The two closest airports to me, Miami International and Fort Lauderdale, have the scanners since about June, 2010 or before that.

You are given a CHOICE to go through that scanner or a regular scanner. The lines were SUPER slow and LONG…because most tried to avoid the scanner.

Personally, as long as you don't touch me, I don't care. I was chosen to be scanned, and it was done with a wand hovering over me about 3-6 inches away.

I am agreement that it is an invasion of privacy…but I am not sure that everyone has the facts. I dislike how the USA has changed since the World Trade Center. The Taliban has won: we are now a nation of paranoid, chaotic, paniced, anxious, trigger-sensitive travellers. This scanner is another symptom of that….
