Getting good wood is something you should – Serre Chevalier
Erm, this is not really anything to do with Serre Chevalier , but if anyone wants a load of 200 year-old larch (meleze) beams I have a load going sat in a dry space outside. The longest is about 9m, various lengths.

Minister calls for training of youth in kente weaving – Ghana News Agency –
The Telegraph web site says:
‘The wooden construction extended nearly two miles across Salisbury Plain more than 5,000 years ago, and would have served to shield the sacred site from the prying eyes of ordinary lower-class locals’.
Now that’s interesting – in that Stonehenge (i.e. the stone monument) wasn’t constructed until around 4,500 BC, they must have used some pretty good wood preserver? Or has someone got their wires crossed?
I'm glad you're feeling better. Here's some more info on dealing with mold in books – though I think I'd say you shouldn't worry about them growing mold too much, since they didn't get wet. If they smell funny, this might help. This info is from the Northeast Document Conservation Center which is a very well-respected institution in the world of archives and preservation.
“A musty smell is most often noted in books that have been moldy or mildewed in the past. To remove the musty smell from old books, first make sure they are dry. Place books in a cool, dry space for a couple of hours. If damp, open the books and stand them up with pages fanned to allow drying. Circulating the air with a fan will help.”
Can you tell I'm a librarian?

The Opinels knife looks good, but it's not made of the right steel and it doesn't have a good wood-cutting edge design. I wouldn't recommend it for wood carving, but I've never actually used one before (just my speculation). A good wood carving knife will be made of carbon steel and have either a hollow ground edge, or a skandi-grind.
I think you will be quite surprised by how easily your Mora knife will fit it your pocket, so wait until you get that before you look into a folding wood carving knife.
I've only seen one folding knife that's good for wood carving, it's called a 'Carving Jack'. Unfortunately, it's very expensive.
