It’s only about 8 weeks until La Tour de France comes through Serre Chevalier , so at the moment more attention is being turned towards road bikes rather than mountain bikes. And how cool are bikes these days

So what you're basically saying is that you're only interested in cycling (mildly) if an American is winning the Tour de France. Having just watched the penultimate stage up Mont Ventoux where the crowds were jockeying for position at the entire length of the mountain, I'm not sure that your comments that nobody cares are widely applicable. The Tour has been fantastic this year, well contested climbers, sprinters and GC competitions, in addition to the flurry of breakaways and fantastic sprint finishes. To say that the event is boring is to not have watched it closely.

Cool that you did the ride, and I would have been jubilant that the first leg was canceled. Yuk, nothing worse than riding in wind and rain!
My husband and I did a few rides for different benefits. Once we did a ride from Albuquerque to Taos for the Heart Association. That was hard. And we rode our mountain bikes instead of road bikes, even though it was all on paved roads.
You'll always feel the road more with a road bike than an mtb. Carbon is great at absorbing vibration but it's not worth forking out for until you're a million percent sure you want to stick with road bikes
Road bike brakes are good but you have to be more forceful with them – pull harder and keep the pressure on, or feather the brakes a lot.
All in all it sounds like you've got yourself a good steed.
And we won't take no for an answer on a ride with us, so don't even try!
These spandex windsuit wearing, lance Armstrong livestrong jocking, tour de France, conehead helmet motherfuckers in Cherokee park are nuts
Pepperdine University found that they actually climb better. No loss of momentum.
By the way, another interesting fact on the Wikipedia 29er page: the larger wheel has less rolling resistance. More reason for those 451mm wheels on our road bikes.]]>
