The work was undertaken to prevent the station from moving due to undermining by erosion. The station has no footings and rests on rails. The fear was that the station could end up on the track urgent repairs works were undertaken to save the building. Lowanna Station Group is covered by heritage listing and conservation management plan which is GMR policy.
